Default Larger Revolver

It looks like there will be a 70" GP Revolver soon. Not sure if I like the covering scheme as much as the original but it should be a nice airplane.

It looks like the same kind of forward-mounted, swept-back gear in the picture but hard to tell for sure. I wish they'd just do a standard aluminum gear mounted back closer to where it needs to be but I'll reserve judgment until actually seeing and flying this one. It might work great, who knows.

If it builds to the advertised weight, and with that 70" wingspan, don't you think it'd benefit from an engine a bit larger than the 60-75 two-stroke suggested?

The OS91FX fits where an OS61 or OS75AX can fit.

Was hoping the cowl would be a little larger so it could fit a gas engine. I'm tempted to get on when it comes out. Perhaps a Jett 90lx engine.

I can not wait to get my hand on this one!!! I just enjoy flying the baby Revolver!! If they did not fix the gear problem I think the mod we did on the baby will work on this one too!!
Now if Tower get them in stock, that will be sweet. As far as the covering goes, I think it will be okay. I know sometime with Revolver 1 and cloud cover, I can loose her on a pull up after a speed run. I went to Great Plane website for more info and pictures, but notthing there!! I have a brand new OS Max 61FX sitting in my engine box in the workshop that need a home!! Can you guess where its going???
Who ever get one first, please post your pros and cons!! This info does help!!!
Thanks everyone!!!

don"t think a 61 will pull that plane w/ much authority. i would be thinking along the lines of a 120ax.

I'm glad they made a larger Revolver but i agree that the suggested engines are not enough.

In a nutshell, the new Revolver has a 4" larger wing span than the Venus II and is about the same weight.

After flying the Venus II with a 1.20AX i wouldn't want anything less for the Revolver. An os 1.20AX with a 14x12 would really move.

I would suggest the .95AX - 1.20AX in a 2-stroke and the OS 1.10a for an easy sport 4-stroke or YS 1.10-1.15 for some fun.

I agree !

Seems like too small of a power plant, for the size
and weight.

Thanks everyone for the engine info. I do have a OS FS 91S II ( 4 stroke ), laying around in the shop. Do you think that will work??
Looking at the manual, the build is about the same as the small Revolver and it still have the two piece landing gear, so the mod we did on the small one, will have to be done to this one too!! Looking at the vid's on their website, this is going to be a sweet plane to fly!!! Anyone going the "E" route on this bird???
Thanks, again everyone for the info and let the build begain!!!

Yes, I think the .91 4-stroke will work. With the original revolver, a lot of people said a .46 2-stroke wouldn't be enough but it is. Your engine should be just fine for sport type flying. It isn't intended to be a 3D airplane. If you watch the GP video I'm sure it is flying with one of the recommended 4-strokes, likely an OS .81 or .91. Of course more power never hurt so a YS-1.10 would be a lot of fun too.

An OS .91 4 stroke was used in this video.
The Revolver is being flown by XFC competitor Jason Danhakl.

Thank ChuckW;

My speed days are over!! I think you are right about the airplane in the vid. It did sound like a 4 stroke. Like you said in your last post. The YS 1.10 would be sweet!!!

I also think a .61 or .75 2-stroke would work fine too. I built a Super Sportster 60 from a kit a couple years ago that ended up being very heavy due to the liberal use of glue and reinforcements that I did. You noticed the weight a little on landing but in the air, a .75-AX pulled the thing around like a rocket. The Revolver has an even cleaner shape so I don't see why it won't fly just as well or better on that engine. I'd still probably go for the .95 if I did a 2-stroke though because I just like doing stuff like that.

I've been flying for 9 years and my wife has NEVER bought me anything R/C related. I guess I'm a bit bitter.

I just said I was going to try... she'll probably get me something she thinks I'd like instead (which I probably won't) and say it is from the heart or some BS like that.

120 AX as a minium. i am looking at maybe even a moki/mark2.1 or saito 2.20. i use the saito 125 on 45% i got 137mph on it with a 13x12 at 11,600 on the ground. with the 120ax and stock muffler i think this one will be around 100-105 thats it.
