Thanks,

Believe it or not, when I went to the web-site the first time and clicked on New Products, the first thing at the top of the page was the Tiger Meet F-16.....no AV8-B! Now it's there.[]

That's amazing! Now how do they plan to turn that into a system that can transition to forward flight, and then back to hover again? It looks like the test bed has the engine mounted vertically, ala Eddie's Rig from a couple years ago. The Harrier has side nozzles that rotate to vector the thrust, and I don't see how they'll be able to duplicate that layout with their current approach.

Not throwing stones, just curious. If they can do it, more power to 'em. A scale turbine Harrier with VTOL capability will be an unmatched feat in the R/C world.

The first prototype was powered by Artes Rhino (as video), the second one is going to powered by JetCat P-180

Cool stuff, nice to continue seeing projects that are of a different & untapped nature!

Skymaster ,here is my BIG request! Please pleaseee make an A-6 Intruder in the future.I would LOVE to have one & it would be a HUGE hit with the jet community. There is no doubt about it that the jetsters would flock to buy them all up like crazy.I always had a passion for the A-6 since I was a little "munchkin",what an awesomeee jet!

Hi,

To bring an old thread back to life...Some amazing new development from Likai. Now have tested the rig with only turbine power using puf air to stabilize the hover..... New turbine in development and will post more pictures soon. See video.

You have been watching a video that was uploaded in 2008. They have been working on it off and on for years.
It will probably be a few more years before they produce a saleable model.

Looks like if they rotor holds up to a run in vacuum test or something similar then they can sell that today...

Very interested in the fan also

The harrier is pretty much the final frontier in R/c modelling... So it will be just amazing to see one flying!

But it that fan has the possibility of totally transforming turbines as we know them today! Heaps of thrust at the speed ranges we operate at with far greater fuel efficiency!

Go skymaster!!!!!

thanks

Isn't the fan just for looks much like their A-10? I really don't think they're trying to make a turbofan motor but could be wrong...

No, that fan looks to me to clearly be operational - and a fan is needed in a Harrier to give them thrust "ahead" of the engine for the forward nozzles. That fan is constructed such that it should be able to turn at EDF speeds (around 20k+ RPM), but likely not at turbine speeds. I wonder how they plan to drive it? Perhaps a planetary gear box?

That would be a game changer then.
